ONE DAY SHORT MOTORBIKE TOUR ITINERARY

Today we start this motorcycle ride at 9am and ride West to Ba Vi, Duong Lam ancient village and then Dong Mo golf course. Please see details of the destinations below.

Ba Vi and Dong Mo golf course: The Ba Vi mountain range is a karst mountain range, about 40km Southwest from Hanoi. It covers an area of about 50 km2, the peak is 1,296 m high. In Vietnamese mythology, this mountain is the home of Son Tinh, the mountain god. In addition, Dong Mo golf course is Vietnam’s first 36-hole golf playfield, near Ba Vi. It covers a large area and also offers a good view of the lakes, green grass and a place to relax.

Duong Lam ancient village: About 40km Southwest of Hanoi near Son Tay, Duong Lam was the first ancient village recognized at Vietnam’s national level on 19 May 2006. It is a great chance to explore the architecture of ancient houses while wander along its narrow alleyways, visit temples dedicated to the two kings who were born there (Phung Hung and Ngo Quyen), and most interesting of all, chat with locals living in the ancient houses. In fact, Duong Lam village has about 800 ancient houses. Two famous places are Sung Nghiem Tu (Mia Pagoda) and Mong Phu Temple. Mia Pagoda is on a small hill in Dong Sang Hamlet.

2-DAY SHORT MOTORBIKE TOURS ITINERARY

Day 1: Hanoi – Halong City. Halong Bay cruising. Sleep on the boat.

This trip is more expensive than a standard trip because of the boat cruise and food. If you want a more affordable ride then choose a ride in 2 days to a mountainous village in Mai Chau which is the first two days of the 3-day tour below. Instead of riding to Pu Luong, you come back to Hanoi on day 2.

Ride east on highway 18 to Halong City. The ride takes 4-5 hours depending on your riding skill. There are two options once we arrive in Halong City:

1. Join a group trip at noon. Depart by boat to Halong Bay, start cruise and check-in cabins. Lunch on the boat, enjoy deluxe Vietnamese set menu. Transfer by tender from boat to Surprising Cave. Enjoy kayaking and swimming, or relaxing on the boat. Dinner served with Vietnamese food. Evening activities – choose from optional evening activities: enjoy movies, sing karaoke or join squid fishing with our crew (in case the weather is good).

2. Book a private boat and cruise in Halong Bay. Sleep on the boat. This option costs extra and we will let you know the cost if you want this upgrade.

3-DAY SHORT MOTORBIKE TOUR ITINERARY

This 3-day motorbike tour takes you to Mai Chau where you stay with a Thai host family. In fact, Thai people are super friendly and easy-going. Allow one extra day and we do have a better trip to explore the surrounding areas of Mai Chau.

Hidden Vietnam Motorbike Tours - Short Motorbike Tours: Mai Chau motorbike tours in 3 days.

Day 1: Hanoi – Mai Chau. ~170 km, ~6 h.

Leave Hanoi at the West end of the city, then just one straight road and three traffic lights. This is much better than riding through the city centre with about forty traffic lights to Highway 6. This road takes us to Son Tay along the Red River, then turn left at Trung Ha bridge and ride on the new road all the way to Hoa Binh.

Once out of the Red River Delta, which brims with traditional farming activity, we pass through limestone monoliths and into foothills populated by Muong people. We head straight at the main range before breaching a high and beautiful forested pass, which descends into the hidden valley of Mai Chau where we spend the night with friends in a traditional Thai stilt house.

The valley of Mai Chau lies between two rivers: the Da River and the Ma River that make it very fertile and rich in varied landscapes, medium mountains, forest, lake, rivers, and infinitude of small footpaths and offer many possibilities of a trek. In the valley of Mai Chau and its surroundings are Muong, White Thai, H’mong (in the height), and the Dao who we meet at the markets or right in their villages.

Day 2: Mai Chau. Options.

If you like an off-road ride (quite hard) then we invite you to try challenging roads to Pu Luong Reserve Park, not very far from Mai Chau but takes long riding hours to get there. This is best recommended for experienced riders and ride dirt bikes.

Day 3: Mai Chau – Hanoi. ~220 km, ~7 h.

In the morning, go to visit H’mong market if you are there on Sunday (~35 km from Mai Chau) then ride back to Hanoi on karst road. Lunch on road. Arrive in Hanoi ~5 pm.
